Boyle Street 40: Fundraising Challenge!
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to cancel our original peer-to-peer fundraiser "A Sleepless Night" that was scheduled to take place in April. While we were disappointed to have to cancel the event, we're grateful to have another opportunity to connect with you and offer a fun, do-it-yourself fundraiser!
We know that many aspects of life were cancelled or postponed due to COVID-19, including other fundraising and teambuilding initiatives. We wanted to provide a solution to that problem by creating a peer-to-peer fundraiser that allowed you to participate at your own pace and at a distance.
Participate in your own #BS40Challenge on Saturday, August 29th
and help us reach our goal of raising $40,000!
Choose Your Own Challenge
How you participate is entirely up to you! It's not what you're doing, it's why you're doing it.
We realize that COVID-19 has brought a lot of restrictions and safety measures into our day-to-day lives, and that every individual has their own level of comfort when participating in activities outside of their home. When we were developing this fundraiser, we wanted to ensure that the event would be as inclusive and safe as possible for everyone who wants to participate.
The goal of this event is to fundraise, raise awareness, and have fun. That's why we've decided to leave the "what" up to you!

How will YOU fill in the blank?
Why the Number 40?
The number 40 refers to the 40+ programs and services offered by Boyle Street Community Services which empower, support, and serve our neighbours in Edmonton who are experiencing poverty and homelessness.
The diversity of programming reflects the diversity of people who access these services on a daily basis. Our child and family, youth, and adult programs walk beside individuals as they address their needs regarding physical, mental, and spiritual health, as well as housing, finances, food security, employment, and more.
By participating in 40 of something on August 29th, you're acknowledging and honouring each one of our programs and the clients it serves in every step, pedal, recipe -- or whatever -- you take on!
Why Host a Fundraiser During COVID-19?
Typically, right now we would be gearing up for the "Ride for Refuge" fundraising bike-a-thon that we have participated in for the last four years, that takes place in the autumn. Due to the uncertainty of what health restrictions will be like later in the year, we have made the difficult decision to not participate in the "Ride for Refuge" this year. This decision, in addition to having to cancel "A Sleepless Night", means that we are lacking severely in the funds we projected raising in 2020.
Boyle Street Community Services relies on the funds raised during this event to continue to provide the 40+ programs and services that support vulnerable Edmontonians experiencing poverty and homelessness.
