Drop-in Programming Assistant Volunteer

The Team: The Drop-In Team

The Drop-in is the heart of our community centre, this is where folks come to access services, to relax with friends and to participate in activities. The supervisor for this volunteer will be the Drop-In Program Coordinator, or the drop-in team lead on weekends.

Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to help ensure consistency of programming and smooth running of activities in the drop-in and outside of the community centre.


Key Responsibilities*:

  • Helping Maintain the outdoor spaces like the courtyard and garden and front of building

  • Support the running of programming and activities and ensuring community members have consistent access to art supplies and keeping supplies organized

  • Fill out tracking sheets on who is accessing what supplies

  • Support external groups and other Boyle Street departments in running programming

  • Taking photos of programming for blog posts and social media content

*This position may include opportunities to facilitate independent programming based on a volunteer's interests at the discretion of the Drop-In Program Coordinator.

Training/Support Provided: Training and support will be provided on the job by our Programming Coordinator and Drop-In staff There will be a binder full of task descriptions available to reference

Qualifications:

  • General customer service skills

  • Must have a cell phone to use while on shift to communicate and take photos

  • Must be 18+ years of age

  • Excited to become a part of the Boyle Street community

  • Ready to demonstrate patience, kindness and understanding in your interactions with others

  • Comfortable in a fast paced, occasionally chaotic environment

  • Must complete a criminal record check

Location:

  • Boyle Street Community Services Drop-In Centre 10116 105 Ave NW

  • The Drop-in courtyard and surrounding outdoor space

Time Commitment

One shift per week for a minimum of three months

3 Hour Shift between 9 and 12 PM or 1 to 4 PM

Special event hours may vary
