Mailroom Volunteer

The Team: Four Directions Financial Services is our bank created in partnership with ATB. Our team at The Bank provides unique supports to those who struggle with access to basic financial services, this includes paperless banking through biometric identification. This team also handles our mail service and ID services. The folks who work at our bank demonstrate patience, kindness and customer service like no other!

Purpose: Boyle Street Community Services acts as a home address for over 2000 people, that’s a lot of mail! A secure place to receive confidential and personal documents allows community members to keep important lines of communication open. The Mailroom Volunteer will take care of our mail department by skillfully sorting the incoming mail as well as distributing mail. With a capable and trustworthy mail coordinator our staff will be free to address the other needs of our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Alphabetizing and filing incoming mail

  • Enter mail information into the MS 365 SharePoint data system

  • Assist with changes of address, forwarding mail

  • Engaging in polite and understanding interactions with community members.

  • Please note: Even with client permission, you may NOT open mail on their behalf. They must collect mail and open it themselves.

Training/Support Provided:

Training and support will be provided on the job by the Four Directions Team Qualifications:

  • General customer service skills

  • Must be 18+ years of age

  • Excited to become a part of the Boyle Street community

  • Ready to demonstrate patience, kindness and understanding in your interactions with others

  • Comfortable in a fast paced, occasionally chaotic environment

  • Ability to alphabetize mail

  • Proficient in MS 365 SharePoint

  • Must complete a criminal record check

Time Commitment One shift per week for a minimum of three months Weekdays from 10-2pm
