Meal Sponsor Highlight: Skyline QS Consultants Ltd

Giving a gift of comfort through a holiday meal

When Boyle Street put out a call for holiday meal sponsors, Skyline QS Consultants Ltd. was one of the first groups to respond. On December 11, Skyline QS sponsored a meal of roasted chicken and shrimp fried rice that fed everyone at our Community Centre.

In October 2020, Skyline QS participated in On Side Restoration’s Drive-Thru fundraiser for Boyle Street Community Services, which raised more than $13,000 and collected winter clothing for our community members. Participating in this fundraiser inspired Skyline QS to support us again this season by sponsoring a holiday meal.

“We saw first-hand the need in our community, and were inspired to get involved,” said Maeve Duggan, Senior Quantity Surveyor at Skyline QS. “Boyle Street has a great reputation for helping the community.”

Meal sponsorship has been a Boyle Street holiday tradition since our inception in 1971. Our community kitchen brings staff, clients and the public together to develop a healthy, nourished and connected community. By sponsoring a meal, kind neighbours like Skyline QS help to feed Edmonton’s most vulnerable and spread the kindness that defines Edmontonians during the holidays.

This holiday season looked different for charities and businesses alike, and our community members felt its challenges keenly. Generous sponsors like Skyline QS helped us to provide a warm, hearty meal to our community members and restock essential ingredients in our kitchen. We are grateful that the Skyline QS team was able to provide such an impactful gift to our community this season.

“This year has seen challenges for everyone,” Maeve explained. “In lieu of corporate gifts this year, we decided to sponsor a meal at Boyle Street in honor of our business partners.”

Working with people through difficult times comes naturally to the team at Skyline QS, who work with families and businesses to navigate the aftermath of disasters which result in property loss.

“We work with people who have had their lives turned upside-down and their homes or businesses destroyed,” Maeve explained. “The COVID-19 pandemic has shown just how important a home is. It should be a safe space. We wanted to ensure those without a safe home at least had a warm meal to provide some comfort this holiday season.”

Skyline QS’s meal sponsorship was matched dollar-for-dollar thanks to the Heart + Soul Fund by EPCOR.
