Boyle Street Academy of Understanding

A community that learns together, grows together  

 

The aim of the BSAU is to help foster compassion by teaching people about the lived experiences of poverty and homelessness and to help individuals build relationships across communities. By working together to build understanding, we work towards Boyle Street’s goal of a stronger, more inclusive city.  

At the BSAU, we facilitate conversations that are needed for us to best support each other as neighbours and members of one shared community.

This program is designed to create lasting change and leave participants feeling empowered and inspired about the future of their community.

Whether you are a business, community group, students or anyone else – the BSAU educational sessions are for you!

 

We have many opportunities for you to engage in:  

 

  • Boyle Street 101 - Learn about who we are, what we do, and our vision for the future. 

  • Boyle Street 101 & Beyond the Basics Kit Building - Participate in a presentation and build care kits to support those we serve. 

  • BSAU Certificate Program - Participate in 4 presentations to gain insight, become an advocate and earn a certificate. 

  • InVisible Persons Screening - Arrange a screening of this film that centers the voices of those we serve, includes a meaningful discussion following the screening. 

  • InVisible Persons Art Installation - Arrange to have the inVisible Persons film projected on a wall, or in a gallery to amplify the voices of our community.
