On April 26th, 2022, Pat and Diana Priestner announced they are making a $1,000,000 gift to our capital campaign, which will support our organization to renovate our newly purchased downtown Community Centre building on 101 Street and 107A Avenue.

“Pat and I feel very strongly that we want to help and support the community that we live in,” said Diana Priestner.

“During our many years of supporting Boyle Street Community Services, it has become clear to us the important role this organization plays in creating spaces that are dignified and rooted in community. It is an honour to be able to support this building which will undoubtedly help them realize their goal of ending chronic homelessness in Edmonton,” she added.

“This is a great day for our organization and those that we serve,” noted our Executive Director, Jordan Reiniger.

“This substantial gift signals what I have come to learn well in spending time with the Priestner family – they are incredible, generous people who want to see a better, more inclusive community. This is what leadership in our city looks like and we are so thankful to Pat and Diana,” continued Reiniger.

Additionally, the $1 million gift also marks the beginning of our capital campaign, which aims to raise a total of $28.5 million for the renovation of our new facility. With this announcement, we have already secured over $16 million towards our goal.

“In the lead up to this campaign we met with several businesses and prominent Edmontonians. What became clear in those conversations is that there is overwhelming support for this project and a desire to help those most marginalized in our community,” said our Director of Development, Laurel McCalla.

“We are confident that with the help of our generous city we will be able to meet our fundraising goal and ultimately create a facility that all Edmontonians will be proud of,” McCalla added.

We plan to begin renovations of our new site in early summer and to open the new facility in fall 2023. The new facility will relocate existing services currently being provided in our facility on 105 Avenue.
